Another strength of Maslow is that people in general have an innate motivation to progress to the next need, making progress possible. Its greatest strength is the recognition that a person may not satisfy a need 100%, but rather the normal person reaches the stages in smaller doses and develops a gradual inclination to progress.(11) If a person is dying of hungry, his only goal is to find a way to satisfy their immense hunger and they are not trying to find an intimate relationship. Satisfying your basic needs first is the only way to progress towards self-realization. Some weakness is the overall simplicity of the theory. There is no real empirical proof because of how difficult it would be to tailor motivation to an individual. People vary greatly in what motivates them, and Maslow notes that it would be impossible to lump humans into a single category. There are many exceptions, as he says, on a person's character compared to those who do not have basic freedoms such as freedom as
