Lately during Mr. Ekart's world geography lesson we watched the movie Hotel Rwanda. A film about a lonely hotel manager trying to protect his family and the 1,200 guests who occupy his hotel. A serious conflict was underway between the Tutsi rebels and the Hutu militia. Paul remained in the middle of everything because he hosted refugees or as the Hutus called them "cockroaches" and because Paul Rusesabagina, the director of the Sabena Hôtel des Mille Collines, is Hutu but his wife Tatiana is Tutsi. Which leads to an even bigger problem Paul faces: making sure his wife and children are safe at all times. Over a million people died in the genocide, but Paul Rusesabagina saved a lot. There have been many different human rights violations, as you would say. And I will give some examples: the fact that the Rwandan people had to choose a side to stay alive, the fact that they could not leave on their own initiative without great danger and simply being murdered for nothing. The Hutu militia The genocide occurred due to old problems dating back to 1990 between the Hutu government and the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), which was mainly made up of Tutsi refugees whose families had fled to Uganda due to previous cases of Hutu violence . Paul had a lot on his plate and was trying to do everything he could to keep the members of his hotel safe and sound. But he took on an even greater challenge by trying to protect his own flesh and blood. Paul was safe because he was Hutu. But his wife Tatiana was Tutsi and the Hutu militia wanted all Tutsis dead. So if any of the Hutus discovered this face they would probably kill him and his entire family. The decision to fight instead of flee has caused much conflict. One that I'm sur... middle of paper... a cemetery of bodies scattered everywhere just to send a message. And that message really reached Paul, sending him into an emotional crisis. I don't know much about whether decisions were good or bad in George's case, but he played an important role in the genocide. This was a very good movie. Very sad but had a lot of information and a great story. I would recommend it to anyone. I learned a lot about the genocide and the events that occurred. I think everyone should watch it for knowledge and to see a good movie. I am happy to have seen this film and also to have studied it.
