According to Parramón (2005), when the 16th century was coming to an end in Rome, a new style called baroque art was born. Baroque art developed during the 17th century and the first decades of the 18th century. In this period, Baroque art spread throughout Europe, adopting different characteristics linked to the religion, political opinions, social situations and tradition of the country. The Church of the countertendency, the absolutist states and the Protestant bourgeoisie mastered the use of baroque forms as instruments for the propagation of their values and as a manifestation of their power. The main characteristics of Baroque art are: movement, sinuosity, exaggeration, theatricality and pomp. The luminous scenography establishes itself as the protagonists of the architecture, the painting and sculptures are strictly articulated in exaggerating the dynamism, drama and sense of apotheosis of the works.
