It is vital that prejudices, stereotypes and biases become a non-factor in customer care. Health care workers must have respect, tolerance and the ability to adapt to a variety of cultural behaviors. According to Blais and Hayes (2011), “Nurses need to be aware of their own cultural beliefs, because these can influence the care they provide. When assessing a client, a nurse considers the client's cultural values, beliefs, and practices related to health and health care” (p.403). It is essential that healthcare providers provide the best care to patients regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or culture. To achieve this goal, it is critical that ongoing education about culture and diversity remains at the forefront of healthcare and healthcare environments
