Topic > Essay on Nuclear Energy - 780

Nuclear energy poses a threat to human society. Scientists are constantly developing new methods, new mechanisms that use their technology in an effort to bring about a better world and a more sophisticated, modernized lifestyle for humans. This time, scientists have developed a new energy source known as nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is commonly interpreted as bombs and weapons, however, there is a better side to nuclear energy, which does not prevent the presence of lethal defects within such energy source. Nuclear energy, for example, is also used to generate electricity and produces less pollution in the process than other energy sources, however, nuclear energy has some flaws that other energy sources do not have. Nuclear energy poses a fetal threat to human society and nature. The process of building a nuclear power plant, used to operate nuclear energy, exceeds the cost of building any other structure used to utilize other energy sources (Maehlum, Mathias Aarre 2013). . The construction of two advanced technology reactors is estimated to have cost around $7 billion; it has also recently risen to 14 billion dollars (Schlesinger, Victoria 2009). The constantly increasing cost of building a nuclear reactor can cause huge financial problems in the future. For example, poor countries would not have the ability to acquire such an energy source, thus creating hostility and jealousy between countries causing events such as attacks on nuclear facilities in rich countries causing casualties and in some cases extending to a state of war between the two nations. In addition to the high construction costs of nuclear power plants, it also takes a long time to complete one (Buzz, Presidio 2009). On the other hand... middle of the paper... nuclear energy waste is still an unsolved problem in any nation. Nuclear energy waste is composed of large amounts of radiation that are harmful to people and the surrounding environment, so its disposal must be thought out and planned very carefully so that no defects can occur that can cause later consequences. Furthermore, radioactivity is not only present in the regions of nuclear power plants but also in uranium mines, which imposes a new problem to be solved otherwise catastrophes will occur. Even the most advanced countries have shut down their reactors and are selling the fuel to developing countries like Pakistan, India, Iran... ( Shrivastava, Sanskar 2010), which shows that they see danger in nuclear energy. However, there is the danger of the second use of nuclear energy, i.e. the creation of nuclear bombs, which represents an enormous threat to the way of life of human beings.
