Topic > The case against Ashley Jessup - 864

David Lohr; a reporter from the web page The Huffpost Crime, wrote an article titled: "AshleyJessup, Ohio mother, accused of raping her 10-month-old son." In his article Lohr states that a 24-year-old woman was accused of sexually abusing her 10-month-old son. The article explains how on August 30, Ashley Jessup filmed herself performing sexual acts on her child and shared the assault with a boyfriend in Battle Creek Michigan, via email. He is alleged to have suggested she film the abuse and send it to him. They were sharing other sexually explicit materials back and forth. Some of the items Ashley and her boyfriend shared via email were reported as unusual. There was no mention of what those items were. On August 31, an ex-girlfriend of the man discovered the video and called the Michigan State Police. Ashley was arrested and is being held on $1 million bail. Her boyfriend, who has not been publicly identified, is being investigated for potential charges. The article also includes the indictment used by the Franklin County Grand Jury to indict Ashley Jessup. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday, September 12, 2011. The child is in protective custody and his father, Johnathon Vasquez, 19, is seeking custody. Sexual abuse, especially against a defenseless child, is unforgivable. Ashley Jessup committed a heinous crime that shook her family and her community. Her mother, who was not identified, was reportedly shocked and humiliated by her daughter's arrest. David Lohrs' article demonstrates how our criminal justice system works from arrest to arraignment, showing the public how quickly the process can be, given the supporting evidence,... middle of paper... also the test. Therefore, in this case, justice was swift and hopefully, it will be equally harsh for both Ashley Jessup and her boyfriend. We can all be grateful for the quick actions of the ex-girlfriend, the state and local police departments, the judge, the prosecutor, the Department of Protective Services, and the Franklin County Grand Jury.
