1. LITERATURE REVIEW1.1. INTRODUCTIONThere is no existing literature that identifies a person's ability to prevent or detect identity fraud, but statistics reveal the severity of the problem. Statistics identify that there is a visible lack of knowledge regarding identity theft in terms of detection and prevention. There are various types of literature that focus on the financial impact of identity theft regarding financial problems for countries, governments and people. However, there is a lack of literature that focuses on the social aspect of identity theft. Related to the amount of knowledge people gain in trying to detect and prevent identity theft. While there is literature that delves into the social issues surrounding identity theft, there is nothing substantial that identifies the average human knowledge regarding this issue. The reasoning behind the literature review is to identify the social implications of identity theft, identify current literature that focuses on the social effects of identity theft and to discover gaps in the current literature. In the process of comparison and analysis, a simple approach will be taken by identifying key points in the literature reviewed. The validity of statistics is of great importance, identifying a common theme of the literature and evaluating other imperative factors. To begin with, it would be logical to look for themes within the literature, thus making comparisons, and then looking for similarities that give space to the question. Then, it is important to move on to identifying gaps or issues within the literature that are not covered. Getting the correct types of literature is vital; then looking at existing work conducted for education...... half of the paper ......and the social aspects of identity theft as it relates to knowledge and the rise of identity theft. All three identified pieces of literature contain mostly qualitative information, this information is therefore mostly supported by valid statistics and the sections covered are relevant to identity theft. However, little is said about knowledge about identity theft, and whether better knowledge could lead to a decrease in identity theft, although two pieces of literature delve somewhat into the social aspects.1.8. CONCLUSION In conclusion, the examination of three different types of literature has produced a detailed view of the amount of attention given to the social aspects of identity theft, which is not significant. There is a considerable amount relating to the effect of identity theft statistically despite the statistics of the three
