Problems within political campaigns There are problems in political campaigns today. One of the problems with campaigns today is “soft money.” Another problem I think we need to address is candidates promising to get elected and then not keeping those promises. A final issue that should be addressed is how candidates conduct themselves to get elected. The first problem with campaigns today concerns campaign contributions. People can only give a certain amount of money to a candidate, so they give money to the candidate's political party instead. This money cannot go to the candidate, so the political party uses this money to pay for ads, phone calls and other annoying items that it can pay to support its candidate. This type of campaign contribution is called "soft money" and legislation is underway to prevent candidates from using "soft money" during their term.
