Topic > My role model: Andy Biersack - 945

My role model is Andy Biersack {Age 22}, lead singer of Black Veil Brides. The meaning behind the names is based on a religious term used by Catholics. The term is when a nun gets married in a church, wears a black veil and Andy liked the fact that you give up everything you have for something you love. So the name Black Veil Brides is mostly about him giving up everything for what he loved to do, no matter how difficult it was. Biography: Early Life: Andrew Dennis Biersack or {Andy Biersack} was born to Chris and Amy Biersack on December 26, 1990, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born naturally with blonde hair and blue eyes, but later dyed his hair black in middle school. Andy grew up in a Catholic family and that was his religion. As a child he attended a Catholic primary school. His parents are new when he grew up, his style was different. He was severely bullied at school for his appearance and the music he liked. He had been called things like "Fagot" and "Emo". This life experience is recalled in the song and video “Knives and Pens”. The song was about how when you're depressed or being bullied, you can choose to hurt yourself {knives} or you can choose to pick up a pen and draw, write stories or emotions, write music, etc. all the pain and hate. Andy's songs have helped millions of people with the messages depicted through his songs. Religion: As I said before, he was raised Catholic, but is now an atheist. In an interview he mentioned: "I'm not a religious person but I grew up in a religious family. I went to the funeral of my grandfather, a person I love very much, and everyone talks about how he went to Heaven and how he is in Heaven. I always argue with that, b... middle of the card... n going. He missed multiple dates because of that injury, but he stayed strong, held up the show and made it better. I chose Andy Biersack as my role model, because he gave and puts everything he has into his music, he doesn't swear in any of his songs and he's not afraid to be himself. Word got out that Andy cried over a fan who showed a sign that said “We want Andy Sixx back” They only liked him for the makeup and clothes they wore then, not for what he is now or the person, then you never liked them in the first place, I could go on all day, but I choose to leave it there because I don't want to go on forever. Andy is my role model, and I will always love and admire him, not for the image, but for who he is, his music, the lyrics and the band itself.
