It is easy to take a path most people follow to integrate, but extremely difficult to oppose them. This is often the case with bullying in schools, where people start to humiliate others in order to get out and fit in with the group of popular or rather unpopular people. They don't realize that in order to gain some fame in their school, they are abandoning their own morals by causing mental or physical harm to their fellow students. “Treat others the way you would like to be treated” is a moral we should always stick to, to keep us humble and respectful towards our fellow men. It's not fair that individuals should have to put up with bullying just for the sake of joking. All these lessons are not easy to learn, even if our parents put every ounce of their moral wisdom into us to try to prevent us from harming others in any form. We are taught to walk away with peace and love, but we do not learn the importance of practicing such acts until life teaches us a lesson. Each of us has humiliated someone at some point, and so have I, in India, for the same reason people start bullying. The students attending Delhi Public School in Gurgaon, India, were closely bonded due to the fact that it was a newly built school and most of the people had known each other for years since starting first grade. I happened to be part of the very first people to enroll in this school, and also part of the oldest and most respected crew at that school. We were now in eighth grade, the oldest class in our school. It was in the summer of 2009 that our school decided to expand its property to accommodate more students. Classes started after the summer holidays and our cr...... middle of paper ...... his family is chosen by lottery. Her whole self is taken by shock when she realizes that she is now the victim of the same ritual in which she had willingly participated, and she tries every possible way to avoid the consequences. She exclaims that it is unfair that she was chosen, just as I felt it was unfair to be isolated from society when no one was willing to accept me. The exclusionary activity we both readily took part in suddenly proved unfair when it turned against us. Then, you learn that you ultimately have to bear the consequences of your actions and don't realize you were wrong until you are put in the position of the victim. By treating others as you would like to be treated, you help spread peace and love. It will only make a big difference if we, as a collective, take steps to stop acts of victimization and bullying.
