BibliographyNameInstitutionTutorDate On April 20, 2014, I participated in the Easter Sunday celebrations in the Roman Catholic Church. This is the day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the most important celebration in the Catholic Church; it cannot even be compared to the day Christ was born. Easter Sunday occurs after forty days of fasting, this represents the suffering Jesus went through because of our sins on the cross. Good Friday precedes Thanksgiving on Sunday; on this day we die spiritually with Christ on the cross and share his pain, then we rise on Sunday and celebrate it. I noticed that this Thanksgiving there were many people present that could not be compared to the normal mass. The celebrations are always lively as they mark a new change in our lives as Jesus died for our sins on the cross. The huge crowd sang songs of praise, prayed and worshiped in a joyful mood. A survey conducted a year ago showed there is a 20% decline in people's attendance of regular mass in church, except on important occasions such as Easter Sunday. This can be explained by the recent survey stating that many Americans born Catholic have changed their denomination. It is also said that one in ten Americans in Orthodox churches was once Catholic, which shows that church membership is in decline. Most of these Americans have moved to mega churches that have high attendance rates as they believe that the Catholic Church is still standing in the old era. One could not help but observe the joyful atmosphere that was observed in the congregation. The congregation sang songs of praise in an evidently happy mood, I was inspired by the mood and joined the congregation in praising and worshiping God. Such days are rare
