The issues involving the tragedy of Julius Caesar are an ambiguous topic, although narrowing the focus means reiterating how men and women are viewed in this society. This play written by William Shakespeare, introduced numerous characters, but there are some focal characters that emerge around the idea of a shift in gender roles. To clarify, the characters who illustrate this are Julius Caesar, the Roman leader, as well as his wife Calpurnia; and the other is Brutus, Caesar's friend, and his devoted wife Portia. This book reveals how dominance occurred in men, while women's concerns were taken into consideration, but when challenged by a man's there was no decision to make, the man lashed out at the idea of his neighbor. They felt that men made more logical decisions when in reality this was completely wrong. Throughout the tragedy of Julius Caesar, Caesar was portrayed as being so naive as to believe that men were spontaneously right in every decision they made. This is demonstrated in the text when Calpurnia was trying to warn Caesar from his vivid dream of the Roman people bathing in his blood....
