Topic > Triangle Community Foundation Mission Statement

The Triangle Community Foundation (TCF), which serves several counties in North Carolina, has reached a point where an internal review by senior management has demonstrated that the mission of the organization needed realignment and focus to help them meet the organization's ultimate goal of maximizing charitable giving from all donors (Anderson, Dees, 2001). This monograph will provide a discussion of the differences between the new and previous mission statements. An attempt will also be made to provide improvements to the mission statement, along with a long-term goal for the change, with adjustments to increase the likelihood that the changes will be successful and which stakeholders will resist the change and why. Both old and new mission statements meet the basic requirements to describe the organization's fundamental purpose and articulate to the public why the organization exists. Before February 2000, the mission statement was short and to the point, but left the reader with no reason to do business with the organization. But after February 2000 the mission statement gained a little more substance and mentioned strategic philanthropy, which may be of interest to more organizations that want to show the community, the public and potential clients how they contribute to the well-being of their fellow man . Likewise, the mission statement mentions the donor's learning about issues important to them and their satisfaction with their philanthropy as one of the organization's services (Anderson, Dees, 2001). A mission statement is a combination of what the company does, how and why it does it, expressed in a way that shows the values that are important to the organization (Ward, 2011). To improve the current mission statement… middle of the paper… organization to ensure that everyone is aligned with the purpose and mission and that the mission statement is not just words that look nice in print.
