Topic > The Effects of Bullying and Cyberbullying - 1917

The biggest problem our society faces is bullying. According to Webster's dictionary, bullying is defined as "a person who is habitually cruel to others who are weaker." Bullying is the leading factor in low self-esteem, suicide, poor academic achievement and depression. I think it's a problem because there are too many teenagers who are abused by bullies. In 2010 at least 3 million students reported being victims of bullying, now let's think about all the students who don't report out of fear. The world would be much better if there were no bullies. The underlying problem with bullying is that the student no longer feels safe. The Columbine High School shooting is almost a perfect example of what can happen in the world when victims of bullying have had enough. There are countless forms of bullying, but the most common are cyberbullying and school bullying. Another type of bullying called covert bullying is not as popular but can cause the same amount of torment. Most people recognize that we have a problem, but the punishment the perpetrator receives for bullying is very light. When a boy is forced to take his own life because the pain is unbearable, something has to change. I found a radical solution, it's a 2 strike system similar to California's 3 strike law. Amanda Todd's suicide last year was the result of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has recently spread like wildfire. Cyberbullying occurs using electronic technology, unlike normal bullying which occurs live. Amanda Todd was a Vancouver teenager who was bullied both online and at school. Amanda had a nude photo of herself forwarded to everyone at her school and her parents. She said she soon developed anxiety, depression and anxiety dis…… middle of paper … out of prison and ended up back in prison. If someone had previously spent time in the labor camp, for bullying, were to commit a serious crime or bully someone, the next step would be an automatic life sentence. My solution will work because of fear. The fear of spending more than a decade in a bullying work camp will make anyone think twice about whether it's really worth it. Plus, since they would assemble electric cars at such a low price in the field, it's a win-win. This in itself would probably push me to send someone suspected of bullying to a work camp. No one knows why some people choose to bully; so all you can do is try to monitor the bullies. Bullying has always been a big problem here in the United States; Now that we have social media it's much easier to bully someone. That's why we should implement my idea right away.
