People today are not taught to be innovative. They are taught to meet a certain standard and not to think “outside the box”. This is a big problem in the workplace. If employees aren't told what to do, they become hesitant because there is no guidance. Because this happens so often, they don't have the ability to be creative. To solve this problem, employers should offer their employees the best kind of environment that allows them to experiment and develop their visions effectively. Collaboration is when a group of people work together sharing ideas and trying to achieve a common goal. Linda Hill said: “Innovation is a journey. It's a kind of collaborative solution between people with different points of view." Putting heads together will expose multiple skills and points of view to clarify any complications. Collaboration is a relevant cause for working together. In the long term, the benefits should be for the entire association. Collaboration is necessary to solve problems. Everyone is capable of having ideas. When everyone applies their skills, mindset and passions, they will be able to create a new product. Teamwork contains an infinite number of ideas. Each idea is explored and investigated to understand which ones are able to "fit into a coherent whole". (Catmull). The absolute idea for the final product is only the beginning of the entire process. It is the collaborative part that brings the group to the final point. It takes a lot of trust and respect to be able to depend on each other to succeed. An example of a company that thrives on the meaning of joint effort is Google. Google has been voted the best place to work for six consecutive years. The company offers...... middle of paper...... “Time pressure kills creativity. Employees were 45% less likely to think creatively on high-pressure days compared to low-pressure days.” (Turley). Creativity requires a lot of time and patience. You can't give it a deadline. At Pixar, for example, it takes two hundred and fifty people and four to five years to make a film. (Hill). Many talented people need to come together and be willing to put in the time and effort to make another authentic film. (Catmull). It takes patience and inclusive decision-making to allow all solutions to emerge. (Hill). Joining forces will help relieve the added stress of time pressure. Because the procedure for creativity is so long, people don't want to go through the process, but just want to see the results immediately. Time is a standard when you have new ideas.
