Sports became a great interest for the people of Colorado, especially in the 20th century. Coloradans began to focus their time on sports and recreation. Some of the sports that began to thrive across the state were baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, and many others. Each of these sports has been played throughout the state at various stadiums such as Coors Field, Dick's Sporting Goods Park, and many others. It doesn't matter the status of the sports; professional, amateur, recreational, the development of this phenomenon has been a great success and has played an important role in the economy. Sports and recreation have truly opened up Colorado's entertainment development. Sports across the state began to flourish, particularly the development of football; commonly called “bronchomania”. The Broncos quickly became everyone's favorite football team, even though they lost more games than they won. They began playing in 1960 but continued to lose games throughout the 1960s (Abbott, Leonard, Noel, pp. 421, 2013). With football already receiving fan support, baseball, basketball, hockey and even equestrian sports, Denver became the first city in the entire country to have the most professional teams. The professionalism of these teams began to expand, involving so many supporters and fans. People across the state traveled to watch their favorite athletes and teams compete against each other. This also brought in a number of people from other states, who played a role in expanding the broader tourist economy. Colorado was becoming known for its teams and its efforts to accommodate those teams and their fans. As the years went by the teams got better and better. They were winning more games and in the meantime...... middle of paper ......r Force Base, additions to Denver parks, as well as the completion of DIA, all of which are major developments in Denver (Abbott , Leonard , Noel, pp. 482, 2013).Richard Douglas Lamm was born on August 3, 1935.
