When the Founding Fathers drafted the United States Constitution, they reflected on the various hardships they had experienced. Since privacy was a considerable issue, they created the Fourth Amendment to preserve it. Nowadays, the government protects, disobeys, and limits our Fourth Amendment rights. The amendment is a crucial component of the Constitution that must be understood by the people and preserved by the government. The Fourth Amendment to the Constitution was written as “The right of the people to the security of their persons, houses, papers and effects.” , against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrant shall issue, except upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” All of this translates into people's right to privacy and immunity from random government inspections unless the inspector has a credible reason or warrant. According to the Fourth Amendment, US citizens enjoy the benefit of privacy. Furthermore, citizens cannot be examined nor have themselves and/or their property confiscated without the issuance of a warrant. As early as September 17, 1787, the framers incorporated this right into the constitution on behalf of the welfare mandates placing those who deemed it above the law. Anyone who obtained an arrest warrant could search and seize a person's property without justification. For example, officers might plunder someone's property without warning or reason, and tax collectors might use these acts to seize private property. This angered the colonist and led to the American Revolution. Therefore, to avoid these unreasonable searches and seizures, this... middle of paper... judges you without a warrant. Another example of the government encroaching on US citizens is when people cross borders. When crossing the border, anyone can be searched without legitimate reason or a warrant. The Border Search Exception Act authorizes disregard of the Fourth Amendment. Likewise, TSA agents use these laws to search people boarding planes. By giving the public a strong sense of protection and isolation from Uncle Sam, the Fourth Amendment establishes itself as one of the most beneficial amendments to the Constitution. Excluding the Fourth Amendment from the Constitution would have jeopardized everyone's privacy and security. Without the famous Fourth Amendment, the government could carry out arbitrary searches and seizures on anyone, at any time. Luckily it was incorporated into the US Constitution and prevents the formation of “Big Brother”.”.
