Designer Children: Its Effects on the Future All parents have a tendency to want the best for their children so that they are in perfect condition. Designer babies have become a popular topic today. While designer babies can be used to create a parent's perfect child, many still have concerns. Signed babies can have both negative and positive effects; however, reports have only shown that they have negative effects on our society. All doctors believe that planning a child can put not only the child at risk, but also our future society. The process of creating tailor-made babies has not yet been reassured, which has only left doctors and others fearful of completing this process. Designing a child may seem easy, however the effects these children will bring will only harm our society. Today's children and infants guard the future. They control what the future of the world will be like and also what their future offspring will be like. Many believe that engineered children have the power to change the future and develop a new world full of “perfect humans.” “With so little control over the situation, most expecting parents say they don't care what their baby looks like, 'as long as he's healthy.' But secretly, they often have a dream child in mind” (Bliss, 2012, p. 5). Parents all agree that if their child is in good health, they are happy and grateful; however, every parent is guilty of wanting a child a certain way. If a parent could transform a child to be completely healthy, without disease or ailment, with perfect features and perfect personality, any parent would go beyond limits to achieve this goal. It is believed that signed children have the ability to do so; however, the assertion...... at the heart of the article ...... has numerous harmful effects on our world. References Bliss, J. (2012).
