The Many Theories About the JFK AssassinationIntroductionThere are many theories that have been introduced to people about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The assassination of the 35th president of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, occurred on November 22, 1963. Kennedy was shot and killed while riding in the presidential limousine through the streets of Dallas, Texas. The bullet that hit his head shattered the right side of his skull. During an interview with the Detroit Free Press (2013), a former Secret Service agent named Clint Hill recalled his actions moments after the shooting. He tells the reporter that he covered the president's head because he "didn't want anyone to see the condition he was in, because it was horrible" (USA Today, 2013, para. 5). President Kennedy was taken to Parkland Hospital at 12:38 p.m., shortly after receiving his wounds. According to Rick Jervis of USA Today (2013), Ronald Jones, a doctor who treated the president, said that efforts to save him were "fruitless" (para. 9). Kennedy was pronounced dead at 1pm after all cardiac activity had stopped and last rites had been administered. The death certificate stated the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Many eyewitnesses say the shots came from the direction of the Texas School Book Depository. Some other witnesses said they heard gunshots coming from other parts of the area. According to numerous government investigations, Lee Harvey Oswald was the assassin who shot Kennedy. Polling conducted over the years showed that many Americans believed that Oswald did not act alone in the shooting. Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby two days after he was arrested for... half of the paper... icolosa. The fatal mistake theory stated that a Secret Service agent accidentally shot the president. There is absolutely no evidence to support this theory. No witnesses saw the man discharge his weapon and all the shots would have come from the warehouse or the grassy knoll. George Hickey even sued the creators of this theory for defamation. The last theory is the one that can be considered absurd. The creators of the UFO theory believed that the president was killed because of his interest in UFOs over Russia. Kennedy was supposed to read a speech revealing the existence of extraterrestrial life. The letters sent to NASA never mentioned aliens, but were about Russia and the growing tension with the United States. There are many other theories floating around out there, but there are too many of them and most are simply scandalous.
