There are people everywhere, dealing with organ damage, such as brain damage. This is a vital organ and without its proper functioning victims are unable to have a normal life. But all this can change with stem cells. Time Magazine, a news source well known for current events and political news, published an article in July 2001 to inform readers about the benefits and controversies of stem cell research. Many people don't know what stem cells are, here it explains where the cells come from “They come from the inner cell mass of a blastocyst, the term for a fertilized egg four days after conception” (Time Magazine). This is how scientists harvest stem cells. Using cells from embryos makes it easier to specialize the cells for whatever cells the patient needs. This is why scientists are more interested in using these stem cells rather than other methods, even if they are the most controversial. But the big idea is to use the cells for good, using them for research to cure people who don't yet have a cure. This is the most important thing because scientists don't use them for steroids or drugs, they are used to give people hope that they can heal and improve their health. People need to accept the fact that yes, it involves aborting a baby, but it did amazing things for so many other people. Stem cells from aborted fetuses should be used because this is the only hope of recovery for some people. Organ damage is usually permanent and people have to live with it for the rest of their lives. There is now a treatment that uses stem cells. The reason scientists need to use stem cells is because these cells are the only type that has the ability to... middle of paper... cells offer the possibility of a new treatment Studies have been conducted to see how stem cells might actually work in this kind of situation "recent studies suggest that these cells could hold the secret to the treatment - or even cure - for some of our most baffling diseases, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's" (Time magazine). It is surprising that these cells could potentially provide a better method of treatment for diseases that usually cannot be cured. And if even more research was done, there could be even more uses and treatments for other perplexing diseases like cancer that utilize stem cells. This research is necessary because it will save lives. It will save people from being a vegetable for the rest of their lives or needing constant medical care. If more studies are conducted, naysayers will start to see how much good it can do and stop supporting it.
