Lord of the Flies is a novel by William Golding, a group of British school children crash a plane and try to survive in an isolated environment facing many difficulties. They have to create their own society with rules they can cope with. Golding intends to show the dark side of human nature in his novel. He showed the savagery that causes civilized humans to become barbarians. The school children were led from hope to disaster as they tried to survive on this remote island. In my opinion, Lord of the Flies describes the methods of government during the Second World War. Dictatorship was the primary method in this time period, which brings us to Jack, a character who displayed violence to demonstrate his existence and growing power as a dictator. In Lord of the Flies each character symbolizes something about a larger civilization. Jack embodies the violence and evil side of humanity; represents envy for power and control. He always sets rules and is eager to punish anyone who breaks them, even if he does so constantly. His main hobby is hunting, driven by the need for meat, his hobby is ferocity and the desire to kill other living creatures. Gradually, Jack's dictatorship began to grow as conflicts between him and Ralph began. Jack tried to dominate instead of collaborating with Ralph, the chosen leader and can also be classified as the protagonist of this novel. Jack repeatedly questions and challenges the power of the conch, which symbolizes social order, authority, and respect. However, he uses the conch to his advantage whenever possible. These analyzes show that Jack's character is very similar to the dictator Adolf Hitler. Jack's rise to power and his methods of government relate to those of Hitler. They are both anta......middle of paper......anger” (Golding 20). And biographer Robert G. L. Waite reports Hitler's appearance: "We look at his insignificant, even ridiculous figure, and wonder how it is possible for a great nation to acclaim him as their great leader and savior... physically Hitler did not seem suited to the his role and his nation". hero and historical force”. In conclusion, Lord of the Flies, a novel by William Golding, shows the ferocity that leads a group of civilized boys to act in a barbaric way. Golding shows us the dark side of humanity through his novel. Jack, the antagonist, craves total power and war. It becomes very wild, barbaric and cruel. Jack, skilled at manipulating other boys, represents the dark side of humanity, the violence and ferocity within human beings. Become a dictator in need of more and more power and war, just like the WWII dictator, Adolf Hitler..
