Imagine a society in which over 25% of the population is unemployed. This is what he achieved during the Great Depression (“The Great Depression”). During the Depression, unemployment rates were the highest they had ever been. Even today, there is much speculation about what exactly caused the Great Depression. Most historians agree that it was a chain of events, one after another, that brought our country into chaos. Some events had more impact than others. These events caused pandemonium among the public, which inflated him even more in an attempt to save himself from bankruptcy. The three main events that caused the Great Depression were the stock market crash of 1929, the banking crisis, and the public's overreaction. Although a semi-popular idea, it is too simplistic to consider the stock market crash of 1929 as the sole cause. of the Great Depression. The “Roaring Twenties” were a time when business thrived. Businesses were expanding exponentially as the new nation grew. Ultimately, businesses were expanding faster than demand was growing, so it was a bubble just waiting to burst. Corporate profits were skyrocketing, while wages increased incrementally, which widened the distribution of wealth. By concentrating wealth in fewer hands it limited economic growth (“Essays on Economics: Causes of the Great Depression”). Middle class families were introduced to installment plans, where you could buy something and pay for it later. This led them to believe they could afford items they couldn't, so they were unable to pay off their items. This was similar to the problem banks created when they were lenient in lending. The stock market during this period was doing very well. It was… middle of the paper… they set each other up and ultimately led to the worst depression in American history. The depression had been building for years and was not avoidable when looking at it in hindsight. We have fixed the issues to prevent this from happening again in the future.
