Subway hits a milestone reaching 16,000 locations, then a few months later broke their own record by opening 17,000 in 2002. That same year they were known for overwhelming competition, becoming the national sponsor of the American Heart Association's American Heart Walks and also underwent a 'huge chain renew both the interior and exterior introducing the Tuscan style we know today. Using the restaurant for good, they decided to open a church in New York where two years later they would teach the community about job and vocational skills. A year later they decided to introduce the Hot Oven Toasted option for subs. Active involvement with the community continued in 2006 when they sponsored the Little League Baseball World Series in Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter they introduced the launch of “Eat Fresh, Live Green”, “Fresh Fit” and “Fresh Fits for Kids”. Opening its 30,000 restaurants in 2008, the company decided to launch the “$5 Footlong” marketing promotion. In 2010 the CAG moves forward with the new TV series Undercover Boss and also introduces breakfast. Remaining in their Healthy Initiative in 2011 they introduced avocado to the menu.
