I'm a big fan of the movie Mask, a psychological movie starring Cher, Eric Stoltz and Laura Dern. Even though I had seen the film before, I decided to rewatch it recently for old times' sake. I also wanted to know more about the film and so I started looking for information on the Internet. I came across a site that provided an in-depth analysis of the film. Even though it is a fairly old film, the story moves you to tears. It is so inspiring and empowering to anyone who is facing any difficulty in life. It makes the problems seem so small compared to the character in the film. This film was released in (1985), the film was both a commercial and a critical success and earned several Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. The film is based on the story of Roy L Dennis, nicknamed "Rocky" and who suffered from a skull deformity at an early age. The boy had a skull deformity caused by an extremely rare disease called craniodiaphyseal dysplasia. Causes skull enlargement; and is commonly referred to as Lionite. The film The Mask opens the eyes of many people who may have never heard of the disease or who may have heard of it but may not have come into contact with a person who suffers from it. The events of the film give these individuals a chance to witness the disease and how it affects someone's social life and how people who suffer from it deal with life. It also shows how people should treat others who suffer from this disorder. Rocky, the main character, lives with his mother and her boyfriend. Despite his rare condition, he is fully accepted and unconditionally appreciated by his family, including his grandparents and his parents' friend who love riding motorbikes... middle of paper... is an opportunity to explain many things that she can't see. The young couple who are now in love eventually visit Diana's parents together. Rocky's old wounds are reopened because his parents are unhappy with their future son-in-law. This forces Diana's parents to take Diana to a distant school for the blind so that she can be separated from Rocky. The messages from Rocky's phone calls to Diana are not delivered to her and some are in fact deleted. This causes their relationship to deteriorate. This is very common in today's world too. Parents are overprotective and want to dictate to their children who they should marry. This depresses Rocky and as a result he gets a severe headache which eventually kills him. The film ends with Rocky's burial. Works Cited Bogdanovich, P. (Director). (1985). [Moving image] mask. Universal images.
