The man who stopped difficult lifestyles for people and communities in South Africa was also their president, Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela was a man who put his life on the line to unite people. He was involved in organizations that would ultimately help end apartheid throughout his life and led countless peaceful actions that ended this division. Mandela was even arrested for what he was trying to accomplish. It was difficult, but once he got out of prison, he finished what he and many others had started, he ended apartheid. Nelson Mandela caused the abolition of apartheid in South Africa today because he was peaceful, patient and treated all people with respect. Throughout South Africa's history, apartheid has been a very important issue that has stood out greatly in the country's culture. The first law created to implement apartheid was created in 1948.
