Thinking back to my past math teachers, I think it depended on the teacher whether or not I liked math that year. There are many things that make a good math teacher, and I have been fortunate to have had great teachers over the past few years. A good teacher understands that even though students should know how to do something, they may not know how to do it. Teachers often assume that their students know how to solve a certain equation, for example, but not everyone learns at the same pace. It is also important that a math teacher has the ability to explain how to solve a given math problem in many different ways. They should realize that not all students solve a particular problem in the exact same way. This is one way that makes mathematics challenging: the teacher must also recognize that students understand things differently. Every school year my overall feeling and perspective towards mathematics changes slightly. Ever since fourth grade, when the curriculum started to get a little more difficult, I still felt like good grades came naturally to me. I never had to really push myself or study for hours on end...
