History of television and its influence on people's lives. How has television revolutionized the world? TV, more commonly known as "television", is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. In ancient Greek teale means 'far', and in Latin visio means sight. From my perspective and that of many people around the world, television has changed the way we live. Television has brought many amazing things, however nothing is perfect. Televisions had been commercially available since the late 1920s, but in very small quantities. Television has since become a little more common in homes or commercial institutions because of its purposes. Which are entertainment and news. In the 1950s, television shaped the public opinion of citizens. After the introduction of color television (mid-1960s), it became more accessible to the “average” person. In my essay I will analyze how television has changed the world, people, human habits, the perception of surrounding reality and of course I will explain how television has evolved over the century. Mechanical Television (1920s and 1930s) Let me start by explaining what television is. Television is a means of telecommunications. Television is used to transmit and receive sound and moving images. Refers to black-and-white (monochrome), color images, or images with or without sound. The first mechanical television systems that produced real television images were developed by Charles Francis Jenkins in the United States of America and John Logie Baird in England in the mid-1920s. Baird, a Scottish inventor, was able to show the transmission of moving silhouette images in 1925, and of moving monochrome images in 1926. He achieved this by using... the center of the paper... the moon, if it were not for television we could only read this in the newspapers and not actually witness it. However, this great invention made people lazy, watching television became an activity that everyone enjoyed, just sitting on the sofa and watching television for hours. This caused people to become less active, children slowed down on their homework and instead of going outside to play they watched television. Every new invention can bring something great to the world. Television was one of those inventions, the process of its creation was quite long and sophisticated, but great things are not achieved in an instant. While television may have its flaws, it doesn't stand a chance with all professionals. This medium connected families, but above all it connected the world. Making it an invention that has had one of the biggest impacts on the world.
