Its characters are revealed slowly and subtly, just like in real life. When meeting someone for the first time it's impossible to truly know who they are. It is only through time that you can truly judge their character. Even then it's difficult. Society is a lie, an illusion. It is so difficult to discern who is honest in a dishonest world. People put on false faces to hide their true intentions and ambitions. Although scammers are associated with this, anyone can put on a "disguise" to hide their true nature. Even if you've known someone for a long time, there may still be aspects of their personality that are hidden from you. From Brutus, Judas, to Benedict Arnold, to today Daisy Buchanan, appearances are not what they seem and society is full of liars. I have been made aware of the lies, but knowing they exist and actually finding them are two very different things
