Topic > The Injustice of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) in…

As the fall season begins, every Saturday, every fan eagerly awaits the most watched and followed sport in the United States, college football. College football is known to be better than watching NFL football. Fans eagerly await when they will see their team enter the Bowl Championship Series. The BCS consists of four college football division-based games and one national championship game. Because college football players do well because of their love of the sport, the BCS is an unfair system that does not recognize all college football teams. The Bowl Championship Series is a complex and controversial system that should be replaced with a playoff system, leaving it to be the only fair way to determine how and who should hold the title of National Champion. The first collegiate football game was on November 6, 1869 in New Jersey. It was against Rutgers University against Princeton where Rutgers won 6-4 (ours). Under a team of twenty-five men, they played under the rules of rugby and football adopted by the London Football Association and modified to suit their sport. Eleven and twelve were then divided with the twenty-three men. Eleven men were the defenders and the rest of the twelve men played attack. Finally, the other two remaining on the opponent's pitch play in two positions, to defend and also to score. From there it slowly began to spread along the east coast around 1875 and the players on the field dropped to fifteen (ours). Eventually, the National College Athletic Association (ours) was formed around the 1990s. In 1998, the Bowl Championship Series was created for the top two BCS college teams to play each other in a N...... mid-card. ......and football teams, to replace the Bowl Championship games with a playoff system, like in the NFL. Keep in mind that having a playoff system would triple the amount of money coming from the BCS. In both cases everyone wins. As far as college football players and fans are concerned, they just want a champion winner who was decided based on the work done on the field. Hopefully after the last season of the BCS era after fifteen years, with the new playoff system there will be a fair balance for all college football teams and there will be no more discrimination. Instead of having five winners, having a college football team based on its ranking, its records and how well it plays on the field, that's what I call a Champion. As a college student, fan, football player and avid fan of the game, having a champion is like winning a Super Bowl.
