Topic > The Benefits of Being a Good Reader - 879

IntroductionOnce I noticed that there was a project that I needed to do, there were ten selected topics to work on, but one of these topics attracted me to choose it, that is "Reading". I've always wanted to know what people think about reading and whether they really recognize its importance in their lives. So, I did a survey asking them several questions about reading. Additionally, research was conducted on two different questions. The aim of the research is to discover the benefits of reading and ways that people can take to improve their reading skills. While the benefits of reading that I have discovered from research are countless, I have discovered from the survey that people don't read enough. Which is powerless to their knowledge. Survey Results The survey was completed on October 19th by 78 respondents, which is very useful to get more information on the topic. I sent the survey to my classmates, I also sent it to my friends and family using Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp. 71% of the respondents were women, while 29% were men. Most of the respondents were between the ages of 18 and 19, which was expected because I sent the survey primarily to my classmates and friends. However, only 5% of respondents were 26 years old or older. 50% of the respondents were from Arab countries except Qatar and the GCC. I've always wanted to know what people think about reading. So I asked them "Do you like reading?". Even though 29% of the respondents said no, they don't like reading, I'm happy that 71% of them said yes, they like reading. Furthermore, 14% of respondents feel great while reading, while only 4% feel terrible, which is generally a good thing. When I asked them how much time they spend reading, 22% of respondents always read... half the paper... our words. Third, change your reading speed from one material to another. For example, when you are reading something difficult and need to get information from it, slow down and concentrate hard. While if you are reading something easy like magazines or newspapers, you can speed up your reading speed. Conclusion Doing the project was a great opportunity to improve my reading knowledge. I learned some information for the first time, which will help me in my life, especially in university life. The survey results were anticipated, as most of the respondents were Arab, and it is well known that they do not read enough. Research has shown that the benefits of reading are numerous and there are many ways to be a good reader. If I did the project again, I would add a question to the survey, which is “why don't people read enough?”.
