Topic > you remember the days when you would hear about a Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan and the feelings of grief and sympathy you had for the soldier's family. Maybe you think that those 158 soldiers died trying to create a better future for Afghanistan and that the military should still be there to contribute to “world peace”. Well, the fact is that their lives have been wasted, over the course of eleven years we have not done many positive things on a large scale in Afghanistan. Instead we lost the lives of many Canadians and wasted billions of dollars in exchange for very little success. Since we are not having much success, we are just wasting soldiers in Afghanistan. Mainly because Afghanistan is a country far from hopeless. First, Afghanistan is seen as a hopeless country due to all the corruption. Afghanistan is ranked as the third most corrupt country in the world according to the results of the 2012 Corruption Perceptions Index, just behind North Korea and Somalia. All this corruption is the reason why the country continues to regress even after the millions of dollars it has been given in aid. "Pino Arlacchi, said that a staggering 70-80% of the $34 billion in aid allocated to Afghanistan since 2002 has never reached the Afghan people due to corruption, waste and donors withholding the funds ." (http://blogs.reuters.com). In defense of Afghanistan they justified that most of the money went to the police and army, but yet the military is not quite ready to prove that most of the money ends up in the pockets of the corrupt. Another thing is that we were in Afghanistan to control the production of opium to lower the income of the Taliban, but still the cultivation of opium poppy in Afghanistan has reached a... middle of paper. This simply shows that the country is not getting better while women's rights are getting worse, destruction and civilian casualties are not increasing even with the overthrow of Taliban power, and the support of many countries simply shows that there is not much hope for Afghanistan. done a lot for maintaining peace and creating a better future for countries, but Afghanistan is beyond our capabilities. How can we help a country that is corrupt to the core with the aim of improving? Furthermore, how can we eliminate a group of terrorists dressed as civilians without killing a civilian or losing a soldier? Or build a country constantly bombarded by bombs. Even after ten years of bloodshed the country is still going backwards. So we didn't just waste the lives of 158 Canadian soldiers? So we should further delay the withdrawal of our armed forces from Afghanistan?
