INTRODUCTION Taking personality into consideration when hiring an individual for a role or building your team is as important as considering their previous experience. Skills can be learned over the course of a career, but personality traits are ingrained and more difficult to change. When an individual is able to match their personality to their job, they are bound to create long-term career success as well as overall job satisfaction and high performance. Viswesvaran and Dilchert (2005) define personality traits as “enduring dispositions and tendencies of individuals to behave in certain ways”, they also indicate that traits refer to a spectrum of individual attributes, which distinguish people from each other. Personality measures are widely used, which reflects the idea that personality plays a significant role in explaining and predicting behavior (Tett, Jackson & Rothestein, 1991). Personality variables in work environments received little scientific attention during the 1960s and 1970s (Kuncel, Ones & Sackett, 2010). Although there is much debate in today's research whether personality plays a critical role in job performance and overall career success, yet personality variables predict important behaviors and outcomes in industrial, workplace, and organizational psychology (Ones, Viswesvaran & Dilchert, 2005 ). Personality is a vital aspect to consider in organizations, especially when looking at individual job performance and career success. The Five-Factor Model approach demonstrates this significance.FIVE-FACTOR MODELThe personality dimensions outlined by the Five-Factor Model (FFM) are extraversion, neuroticism, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience (Judging, High..... . half of the article ......ng of the personality-performance link in different countries (Barrick et al., 2001) CONCLUSION Personality is a valid and critical aspect of career and job performance personality and therefore their respective career outcomes and successes differ. The FFM has shown that the five personality characteristics presented each play a role in career, job performance and overall role within the organization as it relates to work organizations should consider personality assessments for their current employees, as well as those they wish to hire. Organizations that offer personality assessments, career coaching, and general recognition of personality differences will help their employees thrive and succeed. the organization.
