Technologies, are we too obsessed with them? In “10 Surprising Social Media Statistics…”, Bella Beth Cooper (2013) states that over 189 million people use smartphones to access Facebook instead of using their laptops. The first computer was the size of a room and operated manually using tons of wires. At that time it was too big and expensive. But over time computers have become smaller with the introduction of the Personal Computer (PC) and have become smaller with laptops and even smaller with the advent of smartphones. Now anyone can buy a smartphone that can perform tasks that a PC or laptop can do. The following reasons will show why we are too dependent on technology. Work and business are highly dependent on the use of the Internet. Sending and receiving mail, online shopping and advertising have changed the way we do business. In “Why the Internet Matters in Business,” Chris Blank (n.d.) argues that all businesses, large and small, know the importance of creating a website and social media pages for the business. According to Blank (nd) having a social media page or website will increase the company's publicity. For example, Old Spice is an old company and needed to increase its sales; to do this they created crazy and funny adverts and posted them on YouTube and Twitter. After 7 months the company's sales increased by 107%. The company's sales have increased tragically because YouTube is the most popular media website and YouTubers like crazy and funny videos; with this, the number of views reached millions of views per video, which led to increased sales of Old Spice products. Relying on the Internet is now an important factor for the success of a company. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest..., with the growth of social media we can no longer do without it...... middle of paper ..... .use of technology. Finally, you should not publish useless materials on social media. References: Blank, C. (n.d.). Why is the Internet important in business?
