Topic > Autobiography Essay for International College Application

Personal Information and Extracurricular Activities I am good at many fields and have been involved in various types of extracurricular activities. I love singing and have been in the choir since the third grade. I now attend a special choir class at Zhongshan Girls High School in Taipei City Hall, and our choir has won numerous awards in different competitions. Besides music, I have also been good at sports since primary school, when I participated in numerous running events and races throughout the city. Aside from school, I was a dancer for more than ten years until I decided to focus on preparing for the basic exam for admission to high school. I have tried different activities in various fields, which cultivates my ability to learn quickly and ambition to aim high. Apart from that, perseverance is a characteristic of mine. For example, I always follow the process carefully before starting an experiment. If I find something unusual, I am willing to spend time thinking and discussing with my friends until I get a reasonable result. I always want to be an international student because I believe that learning in different environments will give me a chance to explore the world world. To become one, I prepared myself for this upcoming challenge. Long years of studying and paying attention to school work have led me to wonder whether it is worth dedicating so much time to textbooks and I have become curious about what it means to study in another country. In 2011, I took the opportunity offered by my high school and became an exchange student in the United States. I didn't fit in perfectly at first, but during my exchange year I learned to fit in... mid-paper... studying with and from the best. I believe this can maximize my potential and I will do everything to thrive in such a competitive university. Another reason why I applied to HKU is that there are a variety of public classes for students. I really wish I was there to attend the lectures. The lecture on Life and Medicine given by Professor Peter J Sadler is the one that fascinates me the most. Furthermore, the University of Hong Kong encourages students to combine science with work or volunteering and teaches them to care about the world. I think this is an important lesson for students to learn. With all the reasons mentioned above, I think University of Hong Kong is my best choice. With a strong desire to achieve my goal, I will do my best at the University of Hong Kong, so as to make the best use of my knowledge to contribute to society.
