Rome, the subject of this report is Rome. Legend (completely invented) says that Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus, the twin sons of Mars, the god of war. Supposedly some king threw them in a basket, threw them into the Tiber River, and let them die a good old death by drowning in the river. Apparently this never happened because they were rescued by a she-wolf and raised as one of their own. Eventually Romulus and Remus decided to freeze that king and overthrow the kingdom over which he reigned. Then Romulus killed Remus, called the kingdom Rome, and they lived happily ever after. As compelling as the legend is, the real story behind Rome is much more boring. Stay here, people. Rome began as just another small city among other stupid things around the 8th century BC in Italy along the Mediterranean Sea. Eventually Rome got to the point where being a small city was no longer exciting, so they decided to become a gigantic empire around "338 and 290 BC" (www.worldology.com) and they achieved this by aggressively establishing themselves in their area of 'Italy. Before becoming an empire, they were a kingdom that lasted from 753 BC to 509 BC. Not much is known about Rome as a kingdom, because there are no written records from the time/they didn't back up their hard drive. Basically the kingdom ended when it was overthrown and turned into a republic. As a republic, Rome only advanced from there. Their army remained unmatched as they conquered a lot of stupid places around “Italy, Spain and England”. (www.worldology.com). This love of conquest led Rome to become one of the most talked about empires of the year.
