According to the Center for Immigration Studies, immigrants routinely carry out “Misrepresentation of a U.S. Citizen (18 USC § 911), Fraud and Misrepresentation (18 USC § 1001), and Social Security Fraud (42 USC § 408).” In order for an illegal immigrant to get a job in the United States he or she must impersonate a U.S. citizen by claiming to be here legally, so he or she is making a false statement, and in most cases he or she must provide a Social Security number. If they are here illegally, they don't legally have a Social Security number, so they get one illegally thus engaging in Social Security.
