DeuteronomyThe book of Deuteronomy is a book of law. The key themes mentioned in Deuteronomy are the retelling of what God did for all the Israelites through Moses. Provides historical accounts of Moses as a leader. In the end, Moses rebels and is wary of the journey to the Promised Land. The narrative of the Ten Commandments is told by Moses in the book of Deuteronomy. The Israelites are told how to love God and how they should worship no other gods except the Lord God. God gives Moses specific instructions about food, whether clean or unclean, speaking of tithes and feasts. It also states the retelling of how the Israelites have built relationships with each other and with the Lord God, and by recounting this, Moses addresses future generations. Moses' successor, Joshua, was also named in this book. This book also talks about how Moses recited a song to gather the Israelites. At the end of Deuteronomy we learn of Moses' death. 1 Kings The book of 1 Kings is considered a historical narrative. Some of the key themes and purposes identified in 1 Kings involved how David's fourth son was trying to set himself up as king. The prophet Nathan warned Bathshelba who eventually alerted David to this news. David chose Solomon to be king rather than his fourth son. After Solomon was made king, he was given understanding and received wisdom from God and with that he built the temple and a palace. After the temple was completed, the Ark was brought to the temple and Solomon dedicated the Ark with many prayers and offerings. God had given Solomon very stern warnings that there would be consequences if his children turned away from Him. After the days of Solomon... halfway through the record... of Judah and Jerusalem, God's judgment is upon them. Mention how he sang the song that mentions the vineyard. God tells Isaiah to speak to His people and how He records His warnings when people do not follow God's laws and are eventually led into sin. The coming of the Messiah is prophesied in Isaiah. It also tells of the prediction of the deliverance of Jerusalem and how King Hezekiah had prayed for this to happen. It tells how Isaiah told the Jews that they were God's chosen people and how after the deliverance from Babylon they would rebuild their nation Israel. This book is said to be considered a reminder of how God is our one and only and that we will have no other idols to worship. Works Cited Holy Bible. (1997). Wheaton: Tyndall.Fee, D.G., & Stuart, D.
