Implementation of Healthcare Reform According to Nies & McEwen, 2015, the United States healthcare system is dynamic and multifaceted and is unlike any other healthcare system in the world. The healthcare reform also known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed by congress and enacted by President Barrack Obama in March 2010. This reform was put in place to provide many Americans with health insurance coverage, as well as providing protection to consumers and gives them more options to purchase health insurance from different providers. The healthcare system consists of private and public, the private system is a personal care service from different sources and includes for-profit and non-profit agencies, while the public care system is focused on the population and includes federal government , state and local. The purpose of the document is to discuss the implementation of health care reform, examine the state of the system in my state, the positive and negative outcomes of health care reform, its impact on the community, and its effect on the economy of the State of Ohio (Nies & McEwen, 2015). The healthcare reform or affordable care law in Ohio is also known as Medicaid Expansion. Implemented under the Kasich administration, it helped 650,000 people whose uncovered health care costs were passed on to employers and individuals struggling to pay the already high costs of health insurance. It was also implemented as it enrolled most Ohioans in a new Ohio Medicaid system that made 38 different reforms in five years. In 2015 alone, it saved Ohio taxpayers $1.9 billion over the original state budget goal. He kept the program's per capita cost growth below 3% while cutting staff... to the middle of the card from which users can choose at the lowest cost. However, purchasing private insurance may cause the consumer to underpay for coverage or overpay to obtain insurance coverage (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2015). In conclusion, the implementation of healthcare reform has benefited more Americans and Ohioans in particular. because more people, especially those with low and middle incomes, are able to obtain insurance through the ACA and Medicaid expansion. Those with pre-existing conditions can purchase an insurance premium at an affordable cost, although this affects younger Americans who may purchase at a lower rate to drive up their premium and increased state and federal government spending on Medicaid expansion . However, the ACA has been very effective in providing coverage to more Americans and a secure life through its preventative policy and expansion of Medicaid.
