Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) are considered among the most exceptional, interesting, and rapidly developing contemporary computer technologies. It is a package of software systems initially created to take advantage of the advantages offered by the Internet, such as Blackboard and WebCT. It provides a resource for the exchange, transformation and management of information, as well as offering various academic and administrative services, through a set of various tools. These environments are not limited to e-learning or distance learning. It is also recognized as the most effective means of supporting and assisting the development of traditional learning and enriching classroom activities. Furthermore, VLEs have become one of the most significant means of realizing and supporting the philosophy of self-learning in many universities. As a result, educational institutions and individuals now realize the benefits of using VLEs to strengthen and enhance the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary for the student to master the use of this technology as well as the tutor and it is necessary to use this technology in all aspects of the learning process. In this study I will highlight the purposes of VLEs, then the common aspects tools in VLEs, followed by the advantages and disadvantages of VLEs. Next, I will describe the factors that impact VLE success and the characteristics of the successful online student. Recently, many universities have used advanced technologies in the learning process, as a result of the rapid evolution of information communication technologies (ICT). These changes require educational institutions to use different tools from the ICT world. One of the most important ICT tools are VLEs. Currently VLE… half of the document… VLE succeeded, for example, by taking into account the effectiveness of online learning strategies. Furthermore, technical skills are not sufficient for the tutor's experience. It is more important for tutors to develop their pedagogical skills to make best use of VLEs. From my point of view, for the success of VLEs, the tutor and the student should play different roles in this matter. They complement each other in completing the learning process via VLE. Therefore, we cannot rely on the tutor alone for the success of the learning process. I believe that students of this generation are growing up with technology and becoming more familiar with ICT. Their learning and thinking styles differ. They are adapting to these technologies. So I think students prefer the learning process characterized by various interesting tools such as VLEs.
