Many can say that Hamlet changes his mood because his mother made him question Ophelia's actions. Ophelia is torn between loyalty to her father or to Hamlet. She never actually says she is in love with Hamlet, in the end we find out that Ophelia's loyalty lies with her father. Hamlet feels betrayed when he discovers that Ophelia is spying on him for Polonius and Claudius, when she lies to Hamlet about her father's whereabouts he becomes suspicious of her. This in return makes him be very harsh on her at times. However, at Ophelia's grave, Hamlet intervenes and confronts his brother and states, “I have lived in Ophelia; forty thousand brothers could not, with all their amount of love, cope.” This informs the reader that he truly loved her and that Hamlet was often involved in her mental state
