A Student's Reaction to Used Car Websites Getting a used car instead of a new one is becoming a trend in America today. People don't want to spend money on new cars because the value of cars decreases significantly. That's exactly what my friend thought when he purchased his used Acura CL 2.3 Coupe 2D for $13,500 from a local dealer last year. Now the question is whether the price paid really makes sense considering the options and current condition of the car. Unfortunately, my friend didn't even do any research before purchasing this car. Therefore, he purchased this car at a relatively higher price than he actually could have had. Based on some used car sales websites like kbb.com or edmunds.com which we will talk about later, you can actually buy that car for 12,585 (kbb.com) or 12,233 (edmunds.com). Inspired by my friend's experience, I did some study on websites that can help you negotiate a used car like a pro. These two websites I mentioned earlier come to mind: kbb.com and edmunds.com. Both of these websites have their advantages and disadvantages. Later in the discussion, I will present all the features of each website and compare both websites. The question of which website is better once again depends on the needs of the user. The first website that will be evaluated is kbb.com. This website, created by Mike Kelley in 1981, is an online version of the Kelly Blue Book's standard guidelines for all used cars. The reason why many people rely on this website has a long history dating back to 1918, when Les Kelly, the pioneer of this service, created the Kelly Blue Book. The context of the Kelly Blue Book's existence will not be discussed too much as it is beyond the scope of this article. However, this online version makes it much easier for people to browse the Internet and find out the appropriate price to bargain with local dealers or private owners. How come? This question can be answered simply by evaluating the ease of use of the site itself. The graphics are simple and the features are well organized so that it is easy to move from one feature to another.
