Topic > Personal Experience: My Weaknesses and Strengths How...

"Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." –Nelson Mandela. Some people say that change is a bad thing, while others say that change is a blessing. Change is what makes us human. It's what allows us to become wiser and stronger, and it's also what allows us to love, hate, and grow. I've grown so much since I started eighth grade in ways I love and in ways I haven't yet recognized. I've learned and changed a lot through math, science, and history, but I've learned the most about good writing. Over the course of the year, I have changed and recognized my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, my strategies and progress, and what has caused the change and the change to come. My strengths, weaknesses, and preferences as a writer changed and were recognized in my eighth grade year. My strengths as a writer are my vivid imagination, my descriptive vocabulary, and my ability to compose fact-based writing. I would say that my imagination has changed and improved this year because I have experienced, read, seen, and learned so much in such a short time of my life. Reading The Outsiders, Out of the Dust, and To Kill a Mockingbird in class really gave me a fresh egg of pure imaginative power to experience and use. They also exposed me to more words I had never seen before, and with the help of my vocabulary book, I learned a broad spectrum of vocabulary from multiple sources. We have written ten chapters in our vocabulary book and in each chapter there are fifteen words. This means I added another 150 words to my vocabulary without incorporating the countless words I learned from reading. I also absorbed many facts from... middle of paper... my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, changed my writing process and strategies, and recognized what I learned and what I would like to write about it in the future . I may not be an amazing writer nor an expert writer, but I have come so far in learning to write from knowing nothing about how to write correctly to knowing most of what I need to know to write correctly. My life has been greatly impacted by the experience of learning everything I know about writing, and I know it will serve me well in the future when knowing how to write is extremely important. I also know that I will improve my writing and will continue to use this writing process for as long as I live. As Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. And with this instruction, that's exactly what I intend to do.
