Jeffrey Dahmer was born in Milwaukee on May 21, 1960 to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. From an early age, Jeffrey was a normal boy who showed no signs of mental problems. At an early age Jeffrey began to develop an interest in dead animals when his father found a number of dead animal bones while sweeping under the house. This didn't affect how he behaved until he started going to kindergarten. While attending kindergarten, Jeffrey was seen as a very shy boy, at the same time his interest in animals began to grow. When Jeffrey was four years old, his father found some dead animal bones under the house and Jeffrey enjoyed playing with them and breaking them. pieces. This became an emotional experience for him: at one point he helped his father breastfeed an owl. Jeffrey's father worked long hours, which led to him being absent for much of Jeffrey's childhood. It was then that he began to show a change in his behavior, becoming shy and avoiding taking part in activities that children his age enjoyed. Jeffrey had to have surgery when he was six and when he woke up he was worried someone had cut off his genitals and the pain lasted for a week. When Jeffrey recovered from the surgery he began to isolate himself and became a loner. When he started school, his teachers were very worried because he showed no interest in his school work and was very shy. With his father working long hours and his mother suffering from serious psychological problems, Jeffrey had no parental figure to guide him. For a normal child he showed no facial expression when he was happy or sad, while according to (Miller, Vandome, & McBrewster, 2009) he remained motionless until his death. Jeffrey was always quiet... middle of paper... influenced by the mood of the individual. Jeffrey was never close to either of his parents and felt rejected by society, which made him feel unwanted in society. He felt more rejected in life during elementary and high school, where he had no friends or social life, other than paying people to come to his apartment, which caused him to start drinking heavily. According to social control theory, if Jeffrey had made friends at school or when he joined the military or had close relationships, it would have prevented him from committing all those crimes. When his victim attempted to leave, he would hit them and prevent them from leaving as the loneliness and fear of rejection grew. At a young age Jeffrey satisfied his inner self from loneliness by disfiguring dead animals, which he later carried out by disfiguring the corpse of his victims.
