The advent of dynamite was an innovation. Dynamite was considered the best medium for mining until it turned out to be the best tool for genocide. The emergence of streetcars was a tragedy. Trams were considered life-threatening until they proved to be one of the most convenient means of transportation. The inventions of the century are often evaluated differently as time passes. The Internet is no exception. Unlike the times when the Internet was considered the fruit of extraordinary creativity, now it is different. Some people point to several side effects of the Internet, claiming that the Internet has made people dumber. However, such negativity will have to be another attempt at evaluation towards the Internet over time. In my opinion, the Internet makes people even smarter in three ways; of human relationships, education and intuitions. For starters, the Internet makes people smarter in terms of human relationships. The word "intelligence" can be defined as the ability to improve the current situation in a preferable way. In this context, the meaning of intelligence is not limited to the intellectual aspect, but also includes that of human relationships. In other words, the ability to improve one's relationships with others can be called intelligent. Therefore, the Internet, which allows people to advance their relationships consistently and transcending the limitations of time and space, makes people smarter. For example, in the society where time equals money, people are absorbed in physically and financially productive tasks. As a result, interactions with others were put aside. However, the Internet allows people to constantly stay in touch with others. Through Facebook or Twitter, c...... half of the document ......provides information that is not limited to general facts and effects but also covers the positions of other countries. Although Koreans resent the free trade agreement with the United States, they will also be able to find positive results from the agreement by reading the news or papers written by scholars in the United States. In short, the Internet is a means of providing varied and in-depth information. Therefore, people can broaden their views, which can be defined as becoming smarter. In conclusion, I believe that the Internet makes people smarter considering its role in connecting people, improving the quality of education and broadening perspectives. Nothing can be perfect. Fears of likely negative outcomes cannot constitute a reasonable reason to oppose the Internet. With practical countermeasures, it is not difficult to imagine that the Internet could serve as a catalyst for improving people's intelligence.
