I knew I had to start studying for exams a week or two early. My study habits haven't changed drastically, but I've realized that the BEST way to understand and retain information is to rewrite the concept again. I also tend to read aloud and piece together information to really understand the concept. I also realized that even though I had a dorm room to myself, studying wasn't the same as being in the library. I believe that being around others who study diligently for exams is motivation to study for myself. I like to see that I'm not the only one who stays up until midnight to finish a test or study for four hours straight. The only thing I had trouble with was failure. In high school, failure wasn't as bad as in college. If I failed an exam or a small quiz in high school, I would shrug my shoulders but end up with an "A" on the course, whereas here I felt like failure couldn't happen. But soon enough I realized that it was wrong. Eventually I was so stressed out by wanting good grades that I actually barely studied and got a 77 on the first anatomy quiz. After failing I know I will do well if I put in the hours and work and now I tend not to stress out because
