I am more versed in invention, arrangement, style, and delivery, all of which go into creating a masterful piece of writing. To give a few examples, I learned to organize and construct my thoughts and ideas more clearly. I was taught to use stronger transitions and to focus more on the delivery and content of the body element of essays. Additionally, the instruction and advice I received during this quarter influenced my understanding of the purpose of writing. My view of writing has been changed by shifting my perception of writing from, writing to demonstrate that I am a good writer to perceiving it as using “fluffy” or BIG words to impress my audience. I have come to understand that the purpose of good writing is to engage the writer with surprising ideas and arguments, which will then prove and define me as a “good writer.” This assignment is a testament to growth and has contributed to my insight into strategies for improving my writing through the importance of understanding how crucial each component of the writing process is and how in depth you should approach each process.
