The first recorded text teaching Christianity has its roots buried deep in Judaism. The birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the Messiah created a new cult ideology. The Messiah is the savior of all men and of all sins. Paul brought the message of the Messiah to the Gentiles. His missionary travels and church planting allowed the message to spread throughout the Roman Empire. Christianity grew in acceptance; those who believed in the Messiah separated and began to worship on their own. This marked the beginning of the split between Judaism and Christianity. Christianity has experienced many pitfalls along the path to fulfillment. As in history, today we find ourselves relearning the lessons of Christ. Early Christian worshipers endured many hardships not experienced by today's society. These differences in science, technology, and lack of practice of our beliefs have caused a rift between early Christianity and today's Christianity. Christianity borrows many aspects from Judaism. In the early teachings, the Hebrew Scriptures of the Old Testament were used, however Christian believers interpreted the Scriptures differently. This interpretation leads to a fundamental shift in ideology between Jews and Christians. In addition to the Scriptures, Christianity adopted many worship rituals practiced within the Jewish synagogue; such as prayers, baptisms and communion.
