Topic > Why I Decided to Apply to the Masters in Computer Science Program at Colorado State University

“The more you know, the more you know you don't know.” Taking inspiration from this quote from the Greek philosopher Aristotle, I started my degree course. After completing my university studies, I began working in the service-based IT industry and during which I realized that the knowledge gained from my studies in IT provided me with a solid foundation but has barely scratched the surface and will not offer me the leverage needed to achieve my career goals as technology continues to advance every day. As a technology enthusiast, I always intend to increase my awareness about new technological trends. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? A short computer science course I took during high school introduced me to the world of programming and data structures. I realized that the computer science field could be the area in which I could make the most of my skills and I enrolled in the university computer science course. During my undergraduate years, I enjoyed laboratory work because I loved applying theory to practice. I studied subjects like Database Systems, Computer Architecture, Distributed Systems, Network Engineering which gave me an understanding of the inner workings of real life applications and project life cycle. After graduation I was recruited to an off-campus unit by Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd. The introduction to the corporate environment was a completely new experience for me. Working in a large team of supportive colleagues has significantly increased my confidence, allowing me to share my thoughts and present new ideas effectively to a wide audience. My work instilled a work ethic and taught me not to linger on inevitable setbacks and to keep moving forward. I currently work as a technical consultant. My work assignments involve Oracle ERP applications that enable project-focused organizations to establish core operational processes to execute project lifecycle management and robust HR functionality. As a technical consultant, my main role is to integrate the application with other applications to share data and services effectively while managing data structure, data format and transport disparities. Since the application I worked on was extensively customized to meet customer requests, I prioritized my focus on requirements engineering. During this phase I built a valuable and constructive relationship with customers and third-party system members. My efforts have been rewarded with appreciation from my supervisors and clients for my ability to provide quick solutions to technical problems and my diligent nature. I was one of the few team members selected to implement the application update. Worked with the finance team to implement changes in the finance application for the recently implemented Goods and Services Tax Act in India. While my work has provided me with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, it lacks the stimulation necessary for further growth. After working on application development from a purely programming perspective for the past three years, I found that my interest gravitated towards the infrastructure behind the network topology of distributed systems. I want to study the concepts.
