Topic > About my motivation for studying data science

I always listened to what my gut said and now that I look back, I'm glad I did. My choice of Information Technology (IT) as my undergraduate major in 2014 was more of an impulse than a well-thought-out career plan. However, as the semesters passed I began to enjoy computer science not only as a subject of study but also as a future career. While I enjoyed most of the IT related topics, especially topics like Database Management, Data Mining and Business Analytics started to capture my interest and attention immensely. This interest has now transformed into a desire to delve deeper into data science. I believe that obtaining a master's degree in Data Sciences will be the right step to achieve my goal. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an original essay Since my childhood, I have had this natural interest in mathematics. In addition to that, quantitative and analytical skills have always been my strengths. These skills combined with my academic excellence helped me get admission in VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the top three colleges in Hyderabad city. I chose computer science as the main course of study for my degree. A well-organized and comprehensive curriculum combined with expert professors ensured that I acquired an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of logical, statistical and scientific principles, emphasizing computer science and information processing. Furthermore, the hands-on learning techniques implemented in our college helped me grasp the fundamentals of core subjects in my stream i.e. Data Mining, Advanced Business Analytics, Database Management Systems, Object Oriented Programming, Algorithm Design and Analysis etc . Through my During my university years, I chose optional subjects such as Software Testing, Computer Forensics, Cloud Computing, Robotics which helped me acquire skills outside the scope of the curriculum. During the sixth semester of my undergraduate studies, I worked on a capstone project titled “Finance Data Project”. In this project, we focused on exploratory data analysis and visualization of stock prices of various banks and how they have progressed during the financial crisis until early 2016. Furthermore, as part of my big project in the last semester of my course, I together with three of my classmates built a clinical decision support system for diabetes diagnosis. This project is also related to data analysis and prediction. The decision support system will help doctors to accurately predict the risk of diabetes attack for a particular patient by analyzing their symptoms team dynamics and appreciate the importance of collaboration and seamless execution of the project. This work stood out as one of the most important projects of our college and also received special appreciation from the Principal. Additionally, we have communicated with the Indian Citation Index (ICI) for publishing a research paper, which is currently under review. The two projects I worked on during my undergraduate studies gave me a practical insight into data analytics and I was fascinated by its potential. The experience I gained by applying my knowledge to the project was rewarding. I also completed an internship program.
