Opponents of gun control will argue against the unconstitutionality of taking away citizens' right to have a gun in their home or on their person at will, but that is literally what did you mean the amendment? Do we all carry guns with us so when we feel scared or threatened we can take them out to scare someone or even hurt them? Definitely not. Pro-gun people will argue that having a gun in no way means you will abuse owning it. That's not the point. The point is that if something has gone wrong in the person's mind or in a situation, it is easily preventable from them not going to prison for attempted murder because they pulled a gun. Phil Dotree tries to explain: "Potential criminals are scared of home invasions and other types of crime by the threat of a gun. Tight control of gun use could therefore lead to more crime" (Dotree). If the government controlled the use of guns, how would crime increase? The idea of controlling who buys and sells guns is not to take them away from defenseless people, but to take them away from bad guys who make good people feel defenseless.
